Most people know that when they bake a cake, they need to prepare the pans. Unfortunately, if they aren’t prepared correctly or at all, they will usually end up sticking to the pan and falling apart when trying to get them out.
I always remember hearing to use butter grease to cover the pan and then add flour and make sure you tap and keep tapping the pan to spread the flour out. And wait, don’t forget about the parchment paper! That’s a lot of work, but I have found an easier solution. There are tons of recipes on the internet, but how do you find it if you don’t about it? Search for homemade pan release or magic pan release. I swear by this stuff. I make a jar at a time and use a silicone brush to prepare my pans. I have yet to have an issue. So how do you make this? It’s quite simple, really. I use a 16oz majon jar and equal amounts of vegetable oil, Crisco, and all purpose flour.
Ingredients
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup all purpose flour
Steps
Mix all ingredients in Mason jar and use an imersion blender to mix all ingredients until smooth.
Don’t have an imersion blender? That’s ok, and ingredients to a bowl and use your hand mixer or KitchenAid.
Use a pastry brush or silicone brush to spread the mixture in all nooks and crannies of the pan.
You won’t use all at once and it stays great for months.
